Kelly Rinehart specializes in providing customized services for healthcare providers and organizations, with a focus on clinical risk management, culture training, lean healthcare coaching, disclosure of adverse event training, root cause analysis, and the evaluation and design of risk management and patient safety programs.

Kelly is the co-director for a surgical collaborative of 15 Oregon hospitals. She was instrumental in developing patient safety tools (e.g. venous thrombolytic event assessment and prophylaxis tool) to assist hospitals with the CMS Surgical Care Improvement Project measures (SCIP). She also led the way for hospitals to obtain crew resource management and team training with the assistance of nationally recognized CRM training companies.

As a popular speaker for physicians and medical staff alike, Kelly has conducted Patient Safety Workshops for physicians in Oregon, Idaho and Washington discussing issues such as Patient Handoffs, Disclosure of Adverse Events and Claims Review Analysis. Her repertoire of presentations is extensive and informative.

Kelly has consistently worked directly with physicians, nurses, administrators and other medical staff, in both the acute care and ambulatory setting, to improve patient safety and increase efficiency. Her work has consisted of comprehensive risk assessments to determine process improvement opportunities, coaching and team building, and developing and implementing safety tools into the workplace.

Prior to forming her own company, Kelly worked for a major medical malpractice insurance company as a risk management intervention specialist. The position involved working one on one with physicians who had experienced particularly difficult adverse events. During this time, she developed risk management and peer review programs for medical practices.
